Ex-Arsenal forward says City have edge over Gunners

Former Arsenal striker John Hartson has told talkSPORT that he believes Manchester City have the edge over Arsenal this season.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, Hartson said that this could be the Gunners’ year to win the league, but City are the team to beat.

On their day, Arsenal play scintillating football and can beat anybody, but I still think Manchester City are the team to beat.

Goals from Brazilian defender Gabriel and the in-form Mesut Ozil took Arsene Wenger’s side to the top of the Premier League after Leicester dropped points against Liverpool. The Foxes and Manchester City face off on Tuesday night at the King Power Stadium.

Hartson believes that player for player, Manchester City have the better squad out of the two sides, despite Arsenal’s recent victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

They have got the best players individually, the best players to handle the situation if you look at the likes of Toure, Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne and if they can get Kompany back.

Arsenal can win the league, there is no doubt about that, but they just need to get that consistency.

Prior to their victory over Bournemouth and defeat to Southampton, goals from Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud secured all three points against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester City are four points off the Gunners in fourth place and a win on Tuesday against Leicester would see them rise to second in the Premier League.
