Mohamed Elneny will undergo his medical on Tuesday ahead of completing a move to Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.
We reported on Boxing Day that a fee had been agreed with FC Basel – his current club – with just personal terms and the medical checks to be finalised.
It now looks like those formalities will be concluded this week as the Gunners act swiftly to get the midfielder in as soon as the transfer window opens.
The report states that a visa will need to be granted for the Egyptian to be able to play in England which will prolong the announcement into next week.

The 36 caps for his country will allow that to be granted meaning the 23-year-old will complete a £7.4 million move from the Swiss club.
The box-to-box player will sign a four-and-a-half year deal at the Emirates, which is a much-needed reinforcement with Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla sidelined for the next two months at least.
