Merson – Wenger must tell board to get Guardiola in

Paul Merson believes that Arsene Wenger must tell the club’s board to bring Pep Guardiola in at the end of the current season.

With the Spaniard announcing his intention to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season and Carlo Ancelotti already confirmed to take over the Bavarian side, a number of club’s are now reportedly lining up for Guardiola to take over.

The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and United are leading the chase for the ex-Barcelona man and Merson claimed on Gillette Soccer Special that with Arsenal facing their best chance of winning the Premier League for the last 10 years, Wenger must complete that task and before it’s too late, tell the board to bring Guardiola in.

Wenger should be going to the board and saying you’ve got to get Pep Guardiola in here. You have to try your hardest, I can’t go on forever. This is my chance to win the league, you have to go and get him.

You’re talking about one of the best managers in the world, who plays the Arsenal way, who will go into Arsenal and suit Arsenal perfect.

Despite the links with a number of different side’s, it is cash-rich side City who are favourites to bring Guardiola in, with the Spaniard likely to have a huge budget to sign a plethora of stars if necessary.
