Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes that the club should sign Victor Wanyama, if the player becomes available.
The 24-year-old thoroughly impressed against the Gunners last Saturday, dominating the midfield battles throughout the 90 minutes and proving himself to be a handful for even some of the best midfielders in the world to handle.
North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are favourites to bring Wanyama in, with a move believed to be in the region of £25m believed to be on the cards.

Having lost Morgan Schneiderlin last summer to Manchester United for upwards of £25m, it’s unlikely the Saints would be willing to allow Waynama to leave in the winter transfer window.
With the Kenyan proving such a tough midfielder when called upon, Merson believes that Arsenal must do all they can to sign him in January, if not the summer.

They need a centre-half, they need a holding midfield player. That holding midfield player for me, they’ve got enough money, go and get [Victor] Wanyama. He’s big, he’s strong. He absolutely ripped the midfield apart the other day, he was head and shoulders above Arsenal’s midfield.
The likes of Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are all expected to return in midfield for the Gunners in the new year, so Wenger may opt against bringing anyone in midfield in the next month, despite links with Mohamed Elneny.
