# Rangers confirm Zelalem loan extension

Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem is to remain with Rangers until the end of the season, according to manager Mark Warburton.

The 18-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Ibrox side this campaign and has made a thoroughly impressive impression on the club’s faithful, proving himself to be useful from midfield.

Speaking on Zelalem, Warburton [confirmed that the player will continue](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3375376/Arsenal-youngster-Gedion-Zelalem-agrees-stay-Rangers-end-season.html) to progress in Scotland until May at least.

> *Gedion is with us.*
>
> *We talked to them as part of an on-going process. It’s about us creating an environment here where clubs of that stature trust us with their players.*
>
> *That’s important medically, nutritionally, training wise, (in terms of) game-time, experience and that their players will go back to their clubs better individuals on and off the pitch.*

Zelalem is tipped to become an Arsenal regular in the coming years and was heavily involved in the club’s pre-season games and tour of Singapore but wasn’t tipped to be ready for first-team football in the Premier League by Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman also decided that in order to aid and progress the American youngster’s development as a competitive footballer, a loan move would be necessary – with Rangers fitting the bill.

Having featured in so many games already this season for the Glaswegian side, the loan move will certainly prove a helpful period for Zelalem’s development.
