Arsenal set out on Boxing Day to earn three points against Southampton, who hadn’t won in seven games. However, it seems the festivities were too much for the Gunners, who looked lacklustre and tired at best almost from kick-off.
The Saints were desperate for a result and showed exactly why they are still a team to be feared. By contrast, Arsenal looked a shell of the team that beat title rivals Manchester City earlier this week and in truth could have lost by an even greater margin.
None of the Arsenal players had their best games today, but we must still evaluate their performances.
