# Arsenal lining up January move for Wanyama

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has [reportedly](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/12061172/Arsenal-transfer-news-and-rumours-Victor-Wanyama-is-Arsene-Wengers-top-January-target.html) made Southampton powerhouse Victor Wanyama his number one target for the January transfer window.

Wenger will be looking to strengthen his midfield options after starting midfielders Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla suffered injuries that will keep them out for the foreseeable future and it seems as though his preferred choice is Victor Wanyama.

The Southampton midfielder attempted to force a move away from St. Mary’s last summer, with Tottenham Hotspur the main club interested. It is no secret that Wenger and Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Wanyama.

Wanyama has been rumoured to have a valuation of £20 million, however Arsenal are set to offer a sum of £15 million for the Kenyan in January.

The 24-year-old’s performances as of late have massively dropped off for Southampton and it is no secret that he was keen on a move away last summer, so it is no surprise to see interest floating around the Kenyan midfielder yet again as his head may have been turned by bigger clubs.
