Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has expressed his regret and disappointment that he did not make a move for former-Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling when he had the chance.
Sterling signed for Manchester City last summer for a huge sum of £49m and since has impressed for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
Although Arsenal were linked with a move for the controversial England international as he was on his way out of Liverpool, Wenger has revealed that his side had the opportunity to pounce on Sterling five years ago.
We had many players on the flanks but Sterling was at QPR – that’s where we should take the players. We watched him but you miss obvious players.

Since Arsenal missed out on Sterling, the 21-year-old winger has made 109 appearances for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, bagging a combined 22 goals since his Premier League debut in 2012.
The history of every club is full of top players that you missed. At the time Liverpool were quicker.
Wenger will be hopeful that the player he missed out on in 2010 does not come back to haunt him as Arsenal host Manchester City on Monday night in a clash between second and third place in the league.
