According to the Express, Manchester United are set to rival Arsenal for the signing of Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian has been lighting up the Premier League so far this season, starring for the Foxes alongside Jamie Vardy as Claudio Ranieri’s side will sit top of the English top-flight on Christmas day; just one year after they were rock-bottom of the standings.
Mahrez scored twice from the spot against Everton this weekend to take his Premier League goal tally to 13 for the season; coupled with seven assists. This means that he has directly contributed to 20 Premier League goals in just 16 matches, which is the highest in the league so far.
Inevitably, his performances meant he was going to be linked with some of the top clubs in the country. Arsenal and United are set to battle each other to land his signature in the January window but it looks unlikely given that Mahrez’s side sit above both of them in the table and are showing no sign of letting up.
