Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been the latest to sing the praises of experienced ‘keeper Petr Cech, after describing his aura and charisma as “vital”.
Cech has been a key figure in Arsenal’s campaign so far, impressing on many occasions and helping the Gunners up to second place in the league, behind only high-flying Leicester.
Since signing from Chelsea in the summer, the Czech Republic shot-stopper has played the vast majority of matches for Wenger’s men and has offered much more defensive solidity than goalkeepers in recent years have for the Gunners.
Speaking on what the 33-year-old brings, Wenger admitted his experience is vital.

He has brought his experience, his calmness and his leadership as well. He has been good and highly focused.
Petr Cech has done it all, so he is someone who gives you an aura, a charisma that is always important in the big games for the players.
Wenger also spoke of how Cech conducts himself and was extremely complimentary about the 33-year-old’s professionalism when the pair first met to discuss a move to the Emirates.
I met him before I signed him and we had a long discussion about the game and the job and his position, and I was deeply impressed by his knowledge, by his professionalism, by his detailed knowledge. So since I have not been surprised, because I got the whole package in one go.
Cech has completed an impressive seven clean sheets in 16 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season.
