Ramsey – I can’t wait to face England

Arsenal and Wales superstar Aaron Ramsey has admitted that he is glad his nation were drawn in the same group as England at Euro 2016.

The Three Lions were the first team to be put into a group (after hosts France) and later found out their opponents would be Chris Coleman’s Wales, Martin Skrtel’s Slovakia, as well as Russia.

England are set to take their fellow home nation on in Lens, a match which will take place on June 16th and Ramsey expressed his delight at the draw, admitting he hoped Wales would draw Roy Hodgson’s side.

I’m really looking forward to it, it’s new for the team to be involved in there.

It’s going to be a great occasion for us, we’re going to enjoy every minute. Obviously there’s a ‘little’ game in the middle!

But while we’re looking to enjoy it, we also want to take it seriously and get out of the group.

To be fair, I wanted England. I had a bit of luck.

I think it’ll be a great game for everyone who’s involved in what’ll be seen as a derby, if you like.

The fixture means that Ramsey will potentially take on fellow Arsenal stars Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck – and the Welshman admitted the friendly competition has already started.

[Theo and Kieran] have already been winding me up but I’m keeping quiet and seeing what happens on the day.

Prior to the tournament, Ramsey and his teammates have a packed season with the Gunners to concentrate on, with a number of trophies up for grabs amid a strong start to the campaign.
