Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may put his hand in his pocket this January… and pull out a pen – to sign Croatian veteran Darijo Srna on a pre-contract.
With Mathieu Debuchy unhappy that Hector Bellerin has taken control of the Arsenal right-back spot, the Frenchman is looking to leave the Emirates, leaving the Gunners short and Wenger in need of cover for the young Spaniard.

That cover, according to Russian news outlet Istvestia, could be 33-year-old Srna, who plays at right-back for Shakhtar Donetsk.
Srna joined the Ukranian side in 2003 and has made 475 appearances for them; he is now the captain of The Miners, as well as the Croatian national team.

His contract expires at the end of the current season, so a deal could be made in January to bring him to north London for free – meaning any money made on the possible sale of Mathieu Debuchy could be used elsewhere, with a defensive midfielder or striker the most probable option.
