Arsenal are set to rest Mesut Ozil, amid reports the German midfielder felt slight tightness in his calf.
The report came prior to Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Olympiacos midweek, although the German came through against both the Greeks and Aston Villa at the weekend.
Despite Ozil performing to such a high level, Arsene Wenger has one eye on the long-term health of the 27-year-old, meaning he could rest him for the any of the games against Southampton, Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
One fixture he certainly will not miss is against Manchester City on Monday Night Football, a fixture which could see Arsenal climb to the summit of the Premier League going into Christmas day.
With so many games in such a short period of time, resting Ozil may be the option Wenger takes, having seen how the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla suffered after constantly featuring for the Gunners and their respective countries in 2015.
