# Ramsey – We never make it easy for ourselves

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has praised his teammates for the job they achieved in qualifying for the knockout stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners went into the game in an awkward position, needing a win by a specific margin and achieving just that, winning 3-0 in Greece after a magnificent display.

Ramsey, who recently returned to the squad in a more central position thanks to injuries to the likes of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla, [admitted his delight at qualifying at the very last possible stage](https://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20151210/ramsey-giroud-has-a-bit-of-everything), but claimed that his side ‘always do it the hard way’.

> *It was obviously a great result for us.*
>
> *We believed that we could come here and get a result, and we managed to do that.*
>
> *We never make it easy for ourselves and this is another example. It’s something that we’ve managed to do in the end and we’re just delighted that we’re in the hat. Hopefully now we can have a good draw and then who knows what can happen.*

The Welshman then moved on to discuss his teammate, Olivier Giroud. The Arsenal centre-forward started as the lone striker despite the return of Theo Walcott to the starting XI, who featured from the right. The Frenchman was the hero of the evening, scoring three times, including from the penalty spot, to gift Arsenal victory.

Ramsey highlighted the importance of the 29-year-old.

> *He’s been in really good form this year and to get a hat-trick in the circumstances just shows how important he is for us.*
>
> *We’re delighted with his contribution and hopefully he can keep up this goalscoring form that he’s in.*
>
> *He links up the play really well, he’s a good target man who can flick balls on, bring balls down and bring other players into play. He can score goals as well so he has a bit of everything.*
