Chief scout Brian McDermott is set to leave his current role at Arsenal and return to Reading, where he will take over the managerial reigns of the club for a second time, after Steve Clarke was sacked last week.
The Gunners’ scout previously managed the Championship side in 2009 for three years but was sacked in 2013 after a run of four games with a win, with the club appointing Nigel Adkins as his replacement.

McDermott, who spent five-years of his playing career in north London with Arsenal, joined the club as a scout a year ago but is the red-hot favourite to take over at Reading, with the Royals vying for safety, currently sitting in the relegation zone.
The ex-Huddersfield Town & Fulham midfielder drove Reading to Premier League promotion during his first spell with the club, although the task at hand on this occasion will be to guide his side to another season in England’s second tier.
