Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has argued that despite his side’s recent poor run of form, they are still in a good position to fight back this weekend and gain ground on current league leaders Manchester City.
The Gunners have not won in the Barclays Premier League in their last three games, but Wenger remains confident that his side can pick themselves up and reignite their campaign.
We have gone through a little bit of a bad spell in recent games, but we are two points off the top.
The great opportunity for us is that, despite that bad spell, we are very close. That’s why it’s important that we keep our confidence high and our determination high, and start winning again. We want the crowd to be behind the team and help us to do it.

The Gunners’ last three games were Tottenham Hotspur, West Brom and Norwich City and despite Arsenal’s north London rivals being in good form at the moment, Wenger’s team were expected to pick up a minimum of six points from those games. However, after the three, Arsenal came out with merely three points which has seen Manchester City pull slightly ahead in the race for the league title.
Wenger’s men are currently fourth in the Barclays Premier League table, two points off of the top. If they can secure a good result against Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland then it will massively help their season and bring them one step closer to closing the gap on Manchester City.
