On-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has reportedly been dropped by Roma following their 6-1 thrashing by Barcelona. The Polish ‘keeper was caught smoking after the game and so disciplinary actions were taken.
Szczesny has been caught out for smoking before and despite it being an acceptable habit in the old footballing culture, by today’s standards it is unthinkable and the 25-year-old is taking his career into his own hands.
The Poland international has been at Arsenal since 2006 and has made 181 appearances for them, winning two FA Cups and the FA Community Shield. He also shared the Golden Glove with Petr Cech at the end of the 2013/14 season.
Szczesny spent most of last season on the bench, only featuring in cup competitions and with Petr Cech having been brought in by Arsene Wenger, the ex-Brentford loanee saw competition for his place rocket meaning a loan was sensible.
Sadly, it seems that the Polish international isn’t taking his time in Italy all-too-seriously and may well see his Arsenal career finish sooner than expected.
