Arsenal faced Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening knowing only a win would be enough to keep them in Europe’s biggest competition and they did just that, in fantastic style.
After a tense start to proceedings, the Gunners went 1-0 up through Mesut Ozil, with the German heading in Alexis Sanchez’s well-placed cross, before the Chilean doubled the scoreline with a tap-in after great work from Nacho Monreal. The north London side went into the break two goals to the good.
The introduction of Hilal Soudani saw Zagreb become much more competitive but it was Aaron Ramsey’s introduction which was most notable, with the Welshman returning from injury. Joel Campbell completed his impressive appearance with an assist, setting up Alexis Sanchez with the deftest of passes into Alexis, who rounded the Zagreb ‘keeper and finished.
A good evening and 3-0 for Arsenal, who have given themselves a chance after Bayern Munich also won their game against Olympiacos.
