FA Cup final ticket allocation proposal rejected

Ivan Gazidis and Arsenal have had their proposal for FA Cup finalists receiving a larger ticket allocation rejected.

The Gunners have made the final the last two years, winning both, and asked for the FA to reconsider the clubs allocation on each occasion, led by the Gunners Chief Executive.

Gazidis is on the FA Council and serves as chairman of the FA’s International Committee, however, the FA board have opposed giving more than the 25,000 clubs currently receive for the final at Wembley.

That is in spite of the 90,000 seater capacity stadium in which the remaining 40,000 tickets go to county FAs, sponsors and the 10-year license Club Wembley tickets.

A National Game review into the ticketing policy for the FA Cup final revealed 10 per cent of the 23,000 tickets available to the football family were returned and 25 per cent of the FA Councillors’ personal allocation were also handed back.

An Arsenal spokesman told the Daily Mail that supporters matter most.

Whether or not we reach the FA Cup final, we feel strongly that as many supporters as possible of the two teams should enjoy the big day.

It is possible that a reform to allow a section of the grassroots workforce who qualify from the counties to given tickets will instead be introduced.
