When compiling a list of the top five Arsenal performers through the first (nearly) third of the season, both the WhoScored ratings system and personal interpretation were used. It’s easy to get seduced by what our eyes show us (and our brains interpret), and the numbers can give perspective on what we think we’re seeing. But, numbers don’t always tell the story, so judgement and vision were also utilised.
Thus, these are the players who have impressed both the statistic lovers as well as made an impression on me in the first 12 games of this season.
