The 21-year-old son of former Hull City and Bradford City star Dean Windass, Josh, could move from Acrrington Stanley to Arsenal in a move which could cost upwards of £1m.
The former Huddersfield Town junior player was released by the club in 2013 and has found success with League two side Accrington Stanley alongside his former Town teammate Matt Crooks and loaned out defender Joe Wright.
The Gunners are favourites to snatch the rising star in the January transfer window after boss Arsene Wenger had watched him in the 3-2 FA Cup win over York City.

However, Arsenal are not the only team interested in acquiring the services of the 21-year-old. Town’s Championship rivals Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham and Hull are also reported to be monitoring the young player, as are Stanley’s fellow League 2 side Portsmouth.
Windass, whose contract expires in the summer, had a brilliant display when he scored from the spot to take his goal record this season to nine in 18 appearances.
