# Mikel Arteta leads training session for youngsters

Arsenal captain and midfielder Mikel Arteta [continued his progression](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3304545/Arsenal-midfielder-Mikel-Arteta-continues-coaching-badges-takes-Wales-youth-team-training-session.html) towards being awarded his coaching badges by putting on a training session for the Wales U16 side on Wednesday evening.

While Arsenal were taking a beating in Germany at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich, the Spaniard stayed behind to continue working towards his badges.

The 33-year-old Spaniard, who has been plagued by injury problems in the recent past, has already begun to look to the end of his career, and it looks like a career in coaching could be his preferred option.

This wasn’t Arteta’s first experience of working with young players, he recently put on a session for Arsenal’s U13 side as part of his coaching course.

According to the *Mail*, the ex-Everton man is close to a return from injury and hopes, all being well, to be available for selection in two weeks time but will likely be behind the likes of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla in the pecking order.
