Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has said that Mesut Ozil is the most intelligent player he has ever played with.
Lahm and Ozil face off at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night with the Gunners needing a win to keep their UEFA Champions League dream alive, after two poor defeats against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos.
The 31-year-old German was quick to praise his former international teammate, who has nine assists in just 14 games, and thinks the former Real Madrid star is the catalyst to Arsenal’s impressive form of late.

Mesut is probably the most intelligent player I have ever played with, he is probably the most intelligent player in Europe today.
Mesut sees things only he can – his vision is as good as I have ever seen.
People don’t necessarily understand his game, he isn’t there to run at players or even beat them, he is far more intelligent than that.
High praise from the Bayern stalwart, who is also regarded as one of the most intelligent players in world football.
The World Cup winner committed his first Bundesliga foul in 24 games at the weekend as Bayern were held to a goalless draw by Frankfurt, you would have to go back to September 2014 for his previous league infringement.

The Bavarian giants have been in exquisite form, with Arsenal being the only side to defeat Pep Guardiola’s men this season, and the Gunners will need to be victorious again if they are to have any hope of qualifying to the group stages of the Champions League.
