Arsenal announce Player of the Month

Arsenal superstar midfielder Mesut Ozil has been named Vitality Player of the Month by supporters of the club.

The German is in the finest form of his career and October epitomised that by picking up an incredible six assists throughout the month and scoring twice – once against Manchester United and the other in the stunning 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

27-year-old Ozil claimed victory of the Player of the Month award by claiming over 60% of the votes, while Petr Cech came second with just over 14% and Alexis Sanchez finished in third with just under 13% of the vote.

Alexis Sanchez was, however, awarded the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for October, so it has been a good month for the Gunners.

Ozil will hope to continue that fine form as he heads into Wednesday evening’s fixture with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena – a crunch tie which could decide the future of the club in Europe’s biggest competition.
