# Ozil – We must take our chances

Ahead of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League group stage clash with German giants Bayern Munich, Mesut Ozil has revealed how his team can overcome their opposition and claim all three points.

The Gunners have already beaten the German’s this season when they won 2-0 at the Emirates and ended Munich’s 13-game unbeaten run. Now, speaking to *Arsenal Player* the World Cup winner views confidence as the number one priority heading into their second game against Pep Guardiola’s side.

> *Firstly, we need to believe in ourselves and secondly we need to be as disciplined as in the first game. We know that they will have a lot of possession and that they will be going for the win.*

Ozil also revealed that catching Bayern on the counter will be the most effective way of dealing with them and hopes that they can play swiftly enough to steal another few goals at the Allianz Arena.

> *Our goal has to be to counter against them and make sure that we take our chances. Then we’ll have a good chance against them.*

When asked to reflect on his last encounter with Bayern, Ozil argued that his side tactically outplayed their opponents with their defensive solidarity and counter-attacking football and went on to suggest that his international teammate Manuel Neuer played exceptionally well against them.

> *We knew that they would have possession and our aim was to counter against them. We did that really well a few times in the first half, and Manuel Neuer made some excellent saves. “In the second half we waited for our chance and we took them when they came. I think we were deserved winners, because we played in a very disciplined manner and didn’t allow Bayern to have many big chances.*

Looking ahead to his side’s game with Bayern in Germany, Ozil admitted that even though they are a dangerous side to play against, his team have enormous confidence in their own abilities and so are looking to earn a second successive victory over the German champions.

> *We’ve always got belief because we know exactly what we can do and we’ve got very good players in our ranks, who can be dangerous against every team.*
>
> *We know that and in Munich we want to show again that we belong to the best. We just have to play our game, be disciplined, believe in ourselves and then we’ll see if that’s enough against Bayern.*

Arsene Wenger’s side started their UEFA Champions League campaign slowly after shock defeats at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos, however, their win over Munich in London has given them a slight chance of progressing from their group and into the knockout stage of the competition and so they will be hoping to capitalise on this and earn another win against Munich.
