Joel Campbell had an impressive game for Arsenal at the weekend as the Gunners overcame Swansea in a dominant second-half showing and now Arsene Wenger claims he always believed in the Costa Rican international, he just had to be patient.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, Wenger admits Campbell, who bagged his first goal for Arsenal against Swansea, always had his full backing but needed to prove himself abroad before he could be offered a first team spot.
He had to wait, to be patient, to get a chance and he was always on the waiting list. He got through a few countries but he is still very young and I never let him go as I feel he is a good player and on top of that he is a team player.

Even though Campbell earned himself a goal over weekend, Wenger believes that the 23-year-old could have scored even more and seemed to benefit hugely from playing alongside superstars like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Today he scored one but he could have scored more so that is something very interesting. You see when he has good players around him he is a good player.
The Arsenal manager also singled out right-back Hector Bellerin after the game and praised his defensive performance which helped prevent several goals during the game.
He made big tackles, he is getting better defensively. Hector was always known as a offensive player and we becomes now a complete defender and keeps his forward qualities.

The strong performance from Arsenal against Swansea will leave fans feeling confident that they can earn at least a point against Bayern Munich when they visit the Allianz Arena in the UEFA Champions League. The Gunners currently sit bottom of their group, but their victory over the Germans at the Emirates gave their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage a boost.
