Wojciech Szczęsny has been a rather mercurial talent for Arsenal since he joined the club in 2006. Capable of both mind-blowing saves as well as mind-numbing howlers – sometimes in the same game – he has frustrated many of the Arsenal faithful during his tenure. When the club signed Petr Čech this past summer, many saw it as the beginning of the end of the Szczęsny era, especially when Arsène Wenger chose to keep David Ospina as Čech’s backup and loaned Szczęsny to Roma for the season.
However, the 25-year old ‘keeper recently expressed a strong desire to return to the club and reestablish himself in the club’s long-term plans.
I saw Arsenal as my whole life and I do not hide that is still my dream.
For me it is a family, I owe so much to those people that if I were to be given a chance I would play for them again.

Such a position is a positive sign for a player that has often been viewed as immature by Gooners, and whose attitude may have contributed to his exile from the squad.
With Wenger there is no love or hate – he’s always been fair with me.
Nine months is a long time in football, things can change from week to week.
Szczęsny has started eight of Roma’s 11 matches in Serie A this season, tallying one clean sheet and conceding an average of one goal per game. The Giallorossi currently sit in third, one point behind joint leaders Fiorentina and Inter Milan. Szczęsny’s loan spell will conclude on 1st July 2016.
