# Campbell – Why I’m so happy to have first goal

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell has admitted that he is ‘so happy’ to have his first goal, having been frustrated by his own performances and lack of playing time since signing for the club in 2011.

The Costa Rican forward scored in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, a well-taken finish after good work on the left-hand side from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

[Speaking to *Arsenal Player*](https://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20151031/campbell-i-m-so-happy-i-scored), the 23-year-old said that despite the relief at scoring a goal, the most important factor was that it led to his side winning and gaining another three points.

> *I’m very happy.*

> *I had to wait for this moment and now we have to keep working to strengthen our team.*
>
> *I’m very* happy *but the important thing is the team wins. We had a good game so we have to keep going and prepare for the next game against Bayern Munich.*
>
> *The fans were incredible. They supported us the whole game and it was very important for us.*

A key factor of Campbell’s impressive performance at the Liberty was his impressive work rate, where he made a number of tackles and helped out Hector Bellerin to stop the threat of Jefferson Montero.

Arsenal face Bayern Munich next in the UEFA Champions League and with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey almost certain to miss out, Campbell may have earned his way into the starting XI.
