Arsenal still monitoring Cavani

Arsenal still monitoring Cavani

Arsenal are reportedly still monitoring the situation of PSG and Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani. Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the 28-year-old and has previously made bids for the player.

Now, though, Fichajes, claim that Arsenal are still tracking the PSG star with the view of purchasing him if he becomes available. Cavani joined the French champions in 2013 following an impressive stint with Napoli and has since earned himself the reputation as one of the best attackers in world football.

With star-man Theo Walcott having picked up an injury against Sheffield Wednesday this week and with no idea yet as to how long the Englishman will be out for, Wenger may very well be prompted to look across Europe for strikers with pedigree who would be willing to join as early as January.

Cavani has scored 65 goals in 111 appearances for PSG and looks set to become the main striker at the club once all-time top-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic moves on – unless Arsenal or another club swoop in.

With Olivier Giroud the only fit striker at the club, it is sensible for Wenger to be on the lookout for attacking talent, but with the Uruguayan reportedly comfortable in the French capital, Wenger may have some tough negotiating ahead of him if he wishes to secure the player’s signature.
