Olivier Giroud praised his German teammate Mesut Özil after both players linked up well in Arsenal’s home game against Everton which ended 2-1 in favour of the Gunners.
The Frenchman scored Arsenal’s opening goal on Saturday, after Özil set him up with a fantastic pass that he headed home past Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard.
The setup marks Özil’s seventh Premier League assist of the season, as he currently sits at the top in that regard.
The goal was Giroud’s third in a week and the 29-year-old proved he’s worthy of being in the team’s starting lineup.

In a conversation with the Final Whistle, the French striker discussed how happy he was of being a starter again.
It’s a few weeks since I’ve started a game, with the national team.
It was really important for me to come back.
Giroud acknowledged the fact that he and Walcott are different types of forwards and how he believes that he brings something special and different to his side.
We have a different profile with Theo, and he was doing well at the beginning of the season. I try to bring what I know I can do well for the team so I’m pleased with the header.
He also praised Özil’s ball that set up his goal and talked about how there is a good understanding between him and his German teammate.
It was a fantastic ball from Mesut. We have a good understanding on the pitch and I’m pleased for the team because we have given a really great performance with [plenty of] dedication and commitment.

Giroud concluded by saying that the task of beating Everton is not as easy as people might think and that it left the Arsenal unit fatigued.
It was not so easy because we were tired after this strong week. Everton are always a tough team to play and that’s why we are tired but pleased tonight.
