Following Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Everton this weekend, Petr Cech spoke to the press and expressed how important the victory was for the team and how the focus his teammates had helped them secure the win over Roberto Martinez’s side.
The Gunners hosted Everton on Saturday and took away all three points after first-half goals from Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud saw them pull away from the Merseyside team.
Cech was pleased with the result against Everton and even more so about the fact that his side earned their third win in the space of a week.
It’s a brilliant victory. When you have a week of important games, you come back after internationals and the away game is always tricky.
We managed to do really well and got a great result at Watford. Then you have a must-win game in midweek and you manage to do that in some style, and I think the hardest part is always to refocus and return to the Premier League.
After the win against Everton, Arsenal moved ahead of West Ham and Manchester City to reach first place, although City jumped back in front after their 0-0 draw with Manchester United. In light of this achievement, Cech admitted that he never wants to let the fans down because of the expectation to win and succeed as a club and so the three points earned against Everton were massive for him.
You have to deliver again and sometimes that’s very hard to do, and we did a remarkably good job.
We’re proud of the three points we got and the way we played against a very good Everton side.
Since moving to the Gunners this summer from London rivals Chelsea, Cech has been hugely impressive – bar a couple of mistakes against West Ham in the opening fixture – and so has made the Arsenal defence even more formidable after his tendency to pull off incredible saves.
I’m pleased with the way I’m contributing to the team and I made another important save against Everton.
Everybody has been playing really well so they deserved a little bit of help from me as well.
Arsenal are one of the most in-form sides in the Barclays Premier League this season and boast the most number of wins in 2015 and now Cech has urged his team to keep their momentum going and win the league title.
We are pleased with the start to the season. So far, so good. You want to be there in the mix from the start to the end.
Since the season started we’ve been there so we’ll try to stay there as long as possible.
After impressive wins against Tottenham, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Watford and Everton, the Gunners look almost unstoppable and with fixtures against Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea and Bayern Munich on the horizon, Arsene Wenger’s men will be looking to keep their winning form going.
