Wenger – Mesut Ozil is a world-class talent

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has spoken on a number of subjects, including Mesut Ozil, rotation and the possibility of going top of the Premier League with a win over Everton and if other results go their way.

With the Gunners beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in impressive fashion on Tuesday evening and Aaron Ramsey pulling up with a hamstring injury, the question of fatigue arose, but Wenger quashed the possibility of tiredness in the squad and admitted that after a team meeting on Friday morning, he is unlikely to rotate the squad.

I’m not sure at the moment to rotate because we had a medical meeting this morning with our recovery tests to see how everybody recovered and so it is difficult to speculate on players who might be tired and are not tired, sometimes you might see that during the game. I don’t think we have a fatigue problem.

The Frenchman then moved on to Mesut Ozil, who scored late on against Bayern on Tuesday evening, and he claims despite being a ‘world-class’ talent, must get himself amongst the goals even more if he wants to become more respected.

I believe that I have said many times that a player of his calibre you want him to add goals to his assists. He looks like he is on the way to doing that as he almost scored in the first half with a right-footed shot and scored in the last minute by getting into the box. He is a world-class player and if he adds goals to his game he will be even more respected.

With Arsenal facing the possibility of going top of the Premier League this weekend, Wenger was more interested in proving they are up for the fight rather than their position this early in the season.

It’s too early. It’s very early. We lost our first game at home against West Ham. After, we went to Crystal Palace and you think it could be a repetition of last year, where after 10 games we were basically out of the race. At a big club, that is always very difficult to handle. At least we are up there with a good number of points and we have made the ground up. Let’s show that we can be in the fight.

Arsenal face Everton on Saturday afternoon and Ozil is likely to start alongside Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with Aaron Ramsey to miss out with a hamstring injury.
