Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema may have finally put the constant Arsenal links to bed when he said that he ‘laughs’ about the rumours linking him with a switch away from the Spanish capital.
The French striker was the name linked with a move to Arsene Wenger’s side all throughout the summer and appears to be the man that many identify as the player the Gunners are sorely missing.
However, in August, the 27-year-old signed a new deal at his current club Real Madrid, which cooled off exit talk.
When asked by French newspaper Le Journal de Dimanche, if he was ever close to a move to Arsenal, Benzema simply replied ‘never.’

Karim Benzema was an absentee as Los Blancos picked up a 3-0 win over Levante on Sunday following a hamstring injury he picked up on international duty. The striker is also a doubt for Madrid’s UEFA Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
Reflecting on the latest transfer window, the former Lyon star spoke about what he spends most summer doing.
Every summer I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours.
The France international is clearly a fan of Real Madrid and their La Liga rivals, simply stating he has no reason to leave.
I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football.
Why would I leave? I’m a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy, it’s that simple.
