Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a swipe at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger by suggesting the club hasn’t progressed in recent years.
Ferguson believes there’s nobody currently available, however, who’s capable of replacing Wenger – despite Arsenal’s last title win being in 2004.
The Gunners have bagged two FA Cups on the trot over the last couple of seasons, but there’s still been a collection of Arsenal fans who have been calling for the Frenchman’s head.

In an interview with ESPN, Ferguson spoke about his thoughts on the north London club.
If I hadn’t progressed Manchester United after the double-winning 1994 team or the treble-winning 1999 team, I would maybe have had the same problems as Arsene is facing now. But he’s stayed with his conviction, he’s stayed with what he believes in.
The ex-Manchester United manager also gave his thoughts on sacking managers in general.
If you can retain the manager for long periods, you can get consistency and you can get success.
Wenger and Ferguson faced off for many years during their respective reigns, but Ferguson does understand why Arsenal haven’t sacked Wenger.
Who are they going to get to replace Arsene Wenger, you know? Who are they going to get who is better than Arsene Wenger?
Arsene Wenger will continue his reign as Arsenal boss as they travel to Vicarage Road to face newly-promoted Watford on Saturday afternoon.
