# Carvalho – I’ve always felt affection for Arsenal

Arsenal target William Carvalho[has claimed that he would love to play in the Premier League one day](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-transfer-news-william-carvalho-hints-that-hes-always-wanted-to-play-for-arsenal-a6690426.html)– specifically for the Gunners.

The Portuguese defensive midfielder has been linked with a move to north London on a number of occasions in the last 24 months and with the need for squad depth becoming constantly more and more important, a move for the 23-year-old could be on the cards.

[It is reported that](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-transfer-news-cech-set-to-be-unveiled-but-wenger-prefers-carvalho-to-vidal-10352484.html) Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the Sporting Lisbon man, but his hefty transfer fee could be a stumbling block.

[Speaking to Portuguese news outlet *A Bola*](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-transfer-news-william-carvalho-hints-that-hes-always-wanted-to-play-for-arsenal-a6690426.html), the Arsenal target said that he has ‘always been fond of Arsenal’.

> *I am where I want to be right now, which is Sporting, but if I ever do leave then it’s a sign that my work here was well done.*
>
> *I dream of winning the Primeira Liga here.*
>
> *I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club with which I’ve always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching.*
>
> *Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League.*

It is likely that Carvalho would cost in the region of £25-30m, meaning a move for him would be taken under serious consideration by Wenger and the rest of the Arsenal board.

With interest high in Carvalho from a number of parties, the Sporting man will likely have a pick of club’s at his disposal.
