# Ozil – Future of German football is looking bright

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil believes that Germany are back to their best after their less-than-convincing start to the European Championship qualifying campaign. The German attacking midfielder also believes that his nation are in a very strong position for the future with the crop of young talent that they are producing.

Speaking to *[Arsenal Player](https://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20151008/ozil-young-players-distinguish-germany)*, Ozil claimed that the youthful nature of the current German team played a huge factor in their recent World Cup triumph and that their side should have no trouble regrouping during the international break to secure qualification to the European Championship held in France next year.

> *I think we’re on a good path, but we know that we have more potential and we want to show that in the upcoming games.*
>
> *It’s difficult when you’ve been apart for a long time and then come together again with the national team.*

Ozil conceded that playing with his national side is much more difficult than it is at club level because the players are only together for a short time, but argued that now his team are back to winning ways, they should have no trouble in qualifying for the competition and seriously competing for the title.

> *It’s always more difficult than at your club, where you train together every day and know each other. But we’re on a good way. We’ve realised our potential in important games. We know that we can do more but what was important was to get six points. We did that and now we want to improve further in the next games.*
>
> *Hopefully we can do that at the European Championship too, if we qualify, and bring the cup back to Germany.*

The World Cup winner moved on to suggest that the future of German football looks just as promising as their current side do and believes that, after having watched several German youth games, the current youth prospects are incredibly gifted.

> *I think that will be the case for years to come because the work with youth teams in Germany is very good.*
>
> *When I have free time or am in Germany, I sometimes go and watch youth matches and you can see that there is a lot of potential and much emphasis is put on the development of young players.*
>
> *That has distinguished Germany in recent years. When you look at the senior side, you see a lot of young players with a lot of quality.*

At the age of 26, Mesut Ozil is undoubtedly one of the most successful footballers in the world. The German has already won the Spanish league title, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de Espana, two FA Cups, the Community Shield, the World Cup and was named the German Player of the Year for three consecutive years. Clearly Ozil has had a distinguished career and will be hoping that he can claim his next national title with Germany in the form of the European Championship in France next year.
