Ozil – Arsenal don’t fear Bayern Munich

Ahead of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League double bill against Bayern Munich, Mesut Ozil has spoken out against the Germans, claiming that the Gunners don’t fear Pep Guardiola’s side and insists that his team are good enough to beat anybody in the world.

Jacob Murtagh, writing for the Mirror, reports that although the Gunners’ previous Champions League performances have left them under immense pressure, Mesut Ozil is confident that if his side performs like they did against Manchester United, then they should have no difficulty overcoming the in-form Germans.

It is true that there is a lot of pressure on us in the Champions League. We can beat Bayern, though, if we play at the same level as against Manchester United.

The Germans recently ran riot over Borussia Dortmund, claiming a 5-1 victory, and although Ozil admitted that Munich are in superb form, he believes that the home advantage and current form that his side have will be enough to see them defeat Pep Guardiola’s side.

I was a bit surprised to see Bayern beat Dortmund 5-1. Bayern’s results show that they are in great form.

We have a lot of respect for Bayern, but we are not afraid of them. We are playing at home and we know how to score goals and be successful against Bayern.

Of course, it will not be easy, but we have the potential to beat any team.

Arsene Wenger’s side currently sit bottom of their Champions League group after shock defeats to both Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos and so Ozil will be hoping that his teammates can carry on the fine form that they showed against Manchester United in order to not only overcome the German champions but also progress from their group into the knockout stage of the competition.
