Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has hailed Mathieu Flamini as a player who ‘always gives 100 per cent’.
The two are well-known for their strong friendship and the German World Cup winner believes that Flamini is a great person both on and off the pitch.
Flamini has taken a lot of criticism from Arsenal fans over the years due to his below-par performances, but Ozil has had nothing but positive words to say about him when speaking to Arsenal Player.

He scored two wonderful goals [at White Hart Lane].
He’s been rewarded for his strong showings and those goals were of course sensational.
[Volleys like that] are really difficult. Sometimes when you see players connect with them, the goalkeepers save the shot or they miss the target. Mathieu caught his perfectly and scored a wonderful goal, especially because it was the winner.
The Frenchman had played his way into the Arsenal first team recently, with stunning performances against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, where his two goals were the difference between the two sides, but lost his place after being withdrawn through injury early on against Leicester City.

I have a really good understanding with Mathieu. He’s a guy who always gives 100 per cent on the pitch but when he’s off the pitch, he’s a player who makes a lot of jokes and gets on well with a lot of his team-mates.
He’s just a great guy with whom I have a lot of fun. As I said, we’re just pleased to have him in this team.
With Francis Coquelin keeping up his fantastic discipline on the pitch, providing solid protection to the Arsenal back line, it is unlikely that Flamini will be able to get back in the side, bar Capital One Cup and early FA Cup fixtures.
