# Coquelin – We have shown people our credentials

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has spoken about the 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon and believes that the north London club have proven many people wrong.

The Gunners have struggled against the Red Devils in the Premier League over the last five seasons and Sunday’s victory over the north West club can be seen as a signal of intent according to the 24-year-old, who believes that the performance proves the club’s title credentials.

At the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Arsenal started extremely well and took a 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes thanks to goals from Mesut Ozil and an Alexis Sanchez brace either side of the German’s well-taken finish.

[Speaking after the game, Coquelin told reporters](https://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20151004/coquelin-we-ve-proved-people-wrong) that the win will serve as a huge confidence boost to his side.

> *I think it is a very good performance against a big team.*
>
> *I think everyone expected us not to win today \[Sunday\] and maybe we proved a lot of people wrong. I think inside the dressing room we knew we could do good things this season.*
>
> *We said it from the beginning of the season that we could be* contenders *but we have to be consistent. I think the most difficult thing now is to carry on getting the results.*
>
> *In the last three* games *we haven’t lost against Manchester United. Slowly we are getting stronger against the big teams.*
>
> *We beat Manchester City last season and now Manchester United so I think it is all about consistency. They made this game tough and the small teams are really strong as well and we need to get a result every week.*
>
> *I think overall it was a good performance from us and we would like to do that again in the coming weeks.*

Arsenal next face Watford at Vicarage Road in less than two weeks, where they will be looking for their third win in a row.
