Brazilian centre-back Gabriel has called for “calm” after two uninspiring and exceedingly damaging defeats in the Champions League. A call for unity within the club, Gabriel said Arsenal must work hard.
We have to work hard and focus on putting in a good performance [against table-toppers and bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday].
[We must] rest, work harder, and then on Sunday come back and have a good game.
Gabriel also lamented Arsenal’s discipline and concentration, labelling the Olympiacos match as a “complicated night” – having seen Arsenal equalise twice, a goal from Olympiacos forward Finngabason condemned Arsenal to their second Champions League loss in two matches.
We were in a good place in the first half, defending well, we were happy.
But the three goals were our own fault.
However, the Brazilian is still upbeat about Arsenal’s chances of squeezing through to the round of 16 for the 18th year running, defiantly stating are can qualify.
We can still qualify.
We now have to try to win the remaining matches in the group.
Of course, with a double tie against Bayern Munich and a trip to Greece, this is easier said than done, and Arsenal will need to learn how to control games more adequately by the time those games roll around.
