Arsenal have announced via a club statement on their website that the FA has made their decision on Gabriel following his altercation with Chelsea forward Diego Costa in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to their London rivals thanks to goals from Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard.
“Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct.
The charge relates to Gabriel’s behaviour following his dismissal in or around the 45th minute of the game against Chelsea on Saturday [September 19, 2015].
The player, who requested a personal hearing, was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct.”

This now means that the Brazilian defender will be suspended for one match and therefore, miss Arsenal’s game against Leicester this weekend.
It is a big loss for Arsenal, who will need to be at their best to be able to stop in-form duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. The two Leicester players have both been scoring and assisting plenty of Premier League goals for the blues this season and Arsenal’s back four will have to be at their very best in order to shut out Claudio Ranieri’s men.
The incident came during the match after Diego Costa appeared to barge an Arsenal player to the ground and then pushed Gabriel. That led to the Arsenal defender appearing to stamp on Costa’s foot straight in front of the referee, leading to him being sent off and Costa getting away without a red.
Costa has subsequently been handed a three-match ban for his part in the incident, something that Gabriel had initially received, but now reduced to just the one, which is a shred of good news for Arsene Wenger.
