Arsenal begin their European campaign this evening when they face Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia and Calum Chambers has admitted to Arsenal Player that he, as well as the rest of the squad have been looking forward to getting started in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Chambers, as well as the rest of the Gunners squad will be looking to put right their wrongs of last season, after losing out to Monaco in the round of 16, after failing to finish top of their group.
I think every game is important in the Champions League and the Premier League.
If you win the first game, it always stands you in good stead for the rest of the games coming.
The first game is very important to win to give you as much hope as possible.
The England international went on the admit his excitement, but claimed that the club must do their best in the early stages if they are to have a successful campaign in the European competition.
It’s a different style of football from the Premier League, so you have to adapt to that. We’re all really excited for it, we’re up for it and we want to do well in the competition this year.
You always want to aspire to do as well as you can. If we manage to finish top of the group, that would be really good.
The north London side’s main rivals in Group F will undoubtedly be Bayern Munich, but with the current unbeaten record of 41 games, Dinamo Zagreb will prove worthy opponents this evening, while a trip to Greece to face Olympiacos will surely prove difficult.
Arsenal line up against Zagreb at the Stadion Maksimir this evening, with kick-off taking place at 19:45 pm BST as they look to get off to a winning start in the elite European competition.
