Arsene Wenger is readying a January move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.
Arsenal’s strike-force has been criticised lately with Olivier Giroud the only available out-and-out forward at Wenger’s disposal at the moment. And with Danny Welbeck’s reoccurring injury problems, the Gunners lack any depth and competition upfront.
With a striker expected to sign in the summer, the Arsenal fans were left disappointed with no outfield players coming into north London. With no luck in signing the likes of Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani, Wenger is now looking at Inter Milan’s prolific goalscorer Mauro Icardi.

Icardi scored an impressive 27 goals in all competitions last season and was undoubtedly the star man as Inter finished eighth in Serie A. He’s proven to be a great capture for the Milan club after signing from Sampdoria in 2013, and as a Barcelona youth product it’s easy to see why he’s rated so highly.
Despite recently signing a contract for Inter, Arsenal will be hoping to lure the Argentine to the Emirates Stadium in January. The 22-year-old won’t come easily though, as he was heavily linked with a lucrative move to Chelsea in the summer.
Inter boss Roberto Mancini will be desperate to keep hold of his most prized asset, but with all money Wenger has saved by not spending big in the summer, he may be waiting for someone big in January.
