Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has insisted that a summer move to Arsenal from the Spanish giants was never on the cards.
The Frenchman was linked to the Gunners consistently throughout the window, with many identifying the 27-year-old as the key piece needed to help the club launch a serious title challenge.
Benzema, however, stated in an interview with French TV news outlet Telefoot that it was never his intention this summer to leave the Bernabeu.

There was nothing in the talk of a transfer away from Madrid.
I’m happy at my current club, it’s the best in the world.
I’ll continue to work here and be happy where I am.
The news will come as a disappointment to many Arsenal fans, who were hoping that manager Arsene Wenger would secure a top quality attacker for the club before last Tuesday’s Deadline Day. Instead, Benzema’s fellow countryman Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott will lead the line for Arsenal this campaign, who have struggled for goals in the opening weeks of the season.
The failure to acquire a new striker was made even worse when it was confirmed that Danny Welbeck will have to spend some time on the sidelines, after having surgery on his knee.
