August 2015 wasn’t exactly a very exciting month to say the least. With the Gunners taking on Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in the Community Shield, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Newcastle in the Premier League, goals were expected, but unfortunately they only came in very small quantities.
Arsenal registered only four goals during the first month of the season, including a couple of strikes from Own Goal, despite this, three of the goals can still be picked out as the club’s top three of the month.
Goal 3 – Damien Delaney (Own Goal) vs. Crystal Palace

Having an own goal in the team’s top three goals of the month, shows how poor a start Arsenal have had – nevertheless, as the ball did come off Delaney before finding the roof of the net, the build up to the goal from the Gunners was great football. It started with Hector Bellerin out on the right, deep inside the Palace half, who then played the ball into Santi Cazorla, who made a clever little run, went to shoot but instead took it on his right side, fooling the Palace defence, before picking out Aaron Ramsey who was positioned slightly ahead of him, just outside the penalty area. Next, the Welshman played it back out wide to Bellerin as the full-back had made his way into the box, who played the ball first time across the area looking for Alexis Sanchez at the back post, with the Chilean meeting the ball with his head, directed it downwards as it deflected off Delaney past the helpless keeper, Alex McCarthy, and into the net. The goal put the Gunners back in front and gifted them a 2-1 victory – the club’s first three points of the season.
Goal 2 – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain vs. Chelsea

The goal came in a 1-0 win over Chelsea in year’s Community Shied against Chelsea at Wembley on 2nd August. The ball was picked up just inside Chelsea’s half on the left-hand side by Mesut Özil, who played the ball down the middle to Theo Walcott, he opened up his body as he took the ball on his right foot and played the ball forward to Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was lurking inside the penalty box. Sharply, the Ox cut inside, took on Cesar Azpilicueta and fired the ball across the face of Thibaut Courtois’ goal, and into the top left-hand corner.
Goal 1 – Olivier Giroud vs. Crystal Palace

A spectacular scissor-kick goal from Olivier Giroud tops the chart for this month’s top three. It came at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace during the first half. The move really got going when Alexis Sanchez played the ball out wide to Mesut Özil on his second attempt, just outside the penalty area on the left, who shipped in a clean ball, which Olivier Giroud cleverly latched on to, manoeuvring his body into position, and catching the ball mid-air with his left foot – finding the bottom corner of the net. The goal will certainly be one of the Frenchman’s best of the season, possibly a contender for Arsenal’s too.
