Much to the despair of many fans worldwide, Arsenal failed to add another striker to their ranks. According to reputed journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal did make a late effort at signing Simone Zaza.

An unexpected name due to the fact that Juventus had re-signed the 24-year-old for €18m just this July from Sassuolo, after selling them their share of his co-ownership for €7.5m two years ago. He had netted 21 goals in 69 games for Sassuolo.
With the transfer window having closed in Italy, Juventus would have been unable to find a replacement for the Italian and thus demanded €30m for him. It seems Arsenal were unwilling to pay the amount and so Zaza will remain in Turin.

He had been previously linked with a loan move to West Ham United earlier this window, but Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri insisted that the forward would not leave the Italian club.
Zaza will not be leaving the club. He’s an important player, an international one at that, and needs to develop.
