Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could be ready to make a deadline day swoop for 33-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after being made aware of his availability by Paris Saint-Germain, reports Vaishali Bhardwaj of the Evening Standard.
Wenger was reportedly interested in Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot, and was pictured yesterday in the French capital as he attempted to do business with the Ligue 1 champions. However, he’s had no luck in his pursuit of the PSG trio, and a deal for Ibrahimovic could now transpire as reports suggest he’ll be allowed to leave the club providing the right offer is made.
The Swede would be an incredible igning for Arsenal and make Gunners fans happy in what’s been a largely frustrating day thus far. He has scored 75 goals in 91 appearances for PSG, and would be a good omen for the club, having won the league at every club he’s played for.
Arsenal’s only first-team signing so far this summer has been goalkeeper Petr Cech, and they’re the only club in Europe’s top five leagues not to sign an outfield player. With just under two hours left until the window slams shut, there’s still time for Wenger to get a deal done.
