As the transfer window deadline closes in on Tuesday, Arsene Wenger has become more and more desperate to sign someone – almost anyone.
According to Jeremy Wilson, the Deputy Football Correspondent for the Telegraph, the Gunners have been rejected on a number of occasions for the potential signings of not just Edinson Cavani, but also 20-year-old Adrien Rabiot and Italy international Marco Verratti.

With Arsenal’s only signing of the summer so far being Petr Cech, who joined the club in July for a fee of roughly £11m, Wenger may have left it too late to secure a new signing – and unless the boss can pull off a Mesut Ozil-like signing on Tuesday, he will no doubt face plenty of scrutiny after constantly insisting that he is in the market for a new signing.
The Gunners boss was pictured earlier on Monday boarding a plane to France, which could be to finalise a last-minute signing, but who it may be remains the question on everyone’s lips.
