Arsenal are preparing to make a shock swoop for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, according to Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star.
The Algerian has had a very impressive start to the season, scoring four goals in as many games for the Foxes. Arsenal have only scored three goals this season, two of which have been own goals, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly added him to his transfer targets.
When asked about Mahrez, 24, Wenger addressed the chances of bringing him to the Emirates:“I can’t predict what will happen. I am optimistic and we’re working on it.
“We have Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere out and you always want to add goalscorers to your squad.”

Mahrez, who arrived at the King Power Stadium in January 2014, signed a new four-year contract in August, and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri previously insisted he’s not for sale: “We don’t sell him so there is no price,” he told Sky Sports.
We won’t sell him so it’s much better if they (other clubs) don’t ask.
As well as Arsenal, Mahrez has attracted interest from across Europe, with Roma and Villarreal both linked with a £5 million move.
Arsenal are actively looking to strengthen their squad, and have been linked with numerous attacking players throughout the summer. Wenger hasn’t ruled out a late move in the transfer market, and Mahrez could become a Gunner before Tuesday’s deadline.
