# Madrid set Karim Benzema fee

Following the summer-long transfer saga between Arsenal and Real Madrid over French international Karim Benzema, *[The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/11811199/Arsenal-transfer-news-and-rumours-Real-Madrid-will-allow-Karim-Benzema-to-move.html)* reports that Los Blancos are now willing to allow Benzema to move to the Gunners for a fee of around £50 million.

Arsene Wenger has been on the lookout this summer for another striker to take the lead role in the Arsenal attack and it seems Benzema is the man at the top of the Arsenal manager’s list. The French striker has [scored 133 goals in 281 appearances](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karim_Benzema)and would certainly improve the attacking options in the Gunners side and would no doubt start ahead of international teammate Olivier Giroud.

Arsenal have started the new Premier League campaign slightly slower than anticipated after an unpredicted loss to West Ham on the opening day fixture and fans of the north London side will be hoping that Wenger is willing to cough up enough money to secure Karim Benzema so that they can say with confidence that they can challenge for the League title.
